Impulse for your month

Are you happy with your life?

I know that this is a very including question. Life consists out of lots of differents parts and factors and all of them together make the impression of happiness. Or of the lack of happiness. But ususally we have a single big thing in our lifes that determines most of it, be it school, work, a relationship or something else. This means that if we are happy with the most important factor in our lifes we are very likely happy with life as a whole.
But, honestly, that‘s not always the case. Oftentimes people are unsatisfied with their work or their circumstances or with whatever is most present in their life. And from that point there comes a whole lot of negative energy. I don‘t have to mention that‘s a bad thing that robs you of your joy and has the danger of dragging other people down with you. This is toxic in the long run.
What often comes along with that is an endless rant of complaining. I have met people who complained about the same thing over months or even years. But that doesn‘t help anyone. Complaining is unproductive and has no effect to change something for the better. But ususally it feels so comfortable, because you don‘t have to actually deal with the problem at hand.
A couple of years ago I somewhere heard that you have three options if you are unhappy with something in your life:

Change it!
Own it!
Leave it!

I think that‘s brilliant, because it doesn‘t leave the option of standing still and doing nothing. And there is a great chance of getting more joyful about whatever it is that drives you nuts:
The first one is pretty obvious: If you are unsatisfied with something in your circumstances, set out to change it. It might not work immediately, but in the process you can use that negative energy that makes you sad or angry and transform it into a positive change.
But everybody knows that sometimes it is not possible to make a difference. That‘s where the second option comes in: Own it! You have no idea what that twist in your mindset can change. Stop dragging all kinds of mourning and negative statements and think of whatever it is in a positive way. Make yourself aware of the positive aspects. And don‘t repress the negative ones. Nothing in this world is pure joy, there are always some sidenotes or quirks. But if you just include them into your view it might change your general opinion. Own it. Be proud of it, with all the uncomfortable parts that come with it. Stand for whatever it is.
This second option may seem hard or even impossible. And you know what? Sometimes it is. Sometimes there is no way of changing things or getting your mind around the bad parts. That‘s how life is at times. And if you find yourself in a situation like that, be courageous. Say grace and leave for something new and something better. Don‘t get stuck and wear yourself out, only because it is easyier at the moment. Stop complaining and leave, because there is a whole world outside there waiting for you.

Maybe you can start into February and look at some things in your life if a change, a change of your mindset or a goodbye is needed.
